I know that readers of this blog are probably not beginners at link building, but it’s a good idea to quickly skim The Beginner’s Guide to Link Building by Paddy Moogan on Moz. The reason why it’s a good idea is because there just may be something you learn.
Beginner’s guides that come out generally have the latest information, and link building tactics need constant refreshing in order to be effective. This is a free PDF download of 89 pages made easy to read with big type and nice ‘Link’ visuals reminiscent of a popular video game. Visuals, no overloaded pages, and easy to read. I like it.
Here is the table of contents:
- What is Link Building & Why is It Important?
- Types of Links (Both Good & Bad)
- How to Start a Link Building Campaign
- Link Building Tactics
- Link Building Metrics
- The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly of Link Building
- Advanced Link Building Tips & Tricks
Chapter One covers the definition of link building, anatomy of a hyperlink, ways search engines use hyperlinks, how Google weights ranking factors, what you need to know about “no follow”, and how link building benefits your business. Pretty good coverage for one chapter, huh?
There always is something more to learn in internet marketing, because it is a constantly changing arena. Even if you are an expert, looking at the latest “beginners guides” can do a couple of things. First, it is an easy way to see if there’s a new development you should research further. Second, it’s a good reminder that you need to be able to explain what you do in ways that non-experts can understand. I really think that if you can’t explain things simply, you aren’t as expert as you need to be.
