Are you ready to start marketing your business through social media? Congratulations! It’s not easy, or cheap. But it can be very effective if you approach it with the right mindset and attitude.
So how do you do that?
You start by defining your target market. Do you cater your business toward busy professionals in their 40s who swing right politically? Or do you target young females between the ages of 18 and 25? A target demographic should be defined as narrowly as possible while also keeping it broad enough to make your business profitable. Don’t narrow it too much, but keep it narrow enough that you can measure your success in your marketing efforts toward them.
After you’ve defined your target market, conduct a study to determine which social media networks they are using, if any. This is a very important step. You don’t want to expend time and money chasing a market that doesn’t exist at LinkedIn (or any other social media site).
After you’ve defined your market and you’ve determined which social media networks they are using, then you can put together your marketing strategy to reach that audience on the social media networks you’ve identified.
A good marketing plan starts with a definition of your market and identification of where your market exists. Then it is followed through with appropriate action to reach that market.
