Have you seen the new Twitter?
I’ll have to admit, when I first heard that Twitter was expanding to beyond 140 characters, I thought “That’s not really a good thing; it will change the essence of Twitter.” But I was wrong.
First, I was wrong about how I interpreted “beyond 140 characters”. It doesn’t mean longer tweets. It does mean more details about a particular tweet such as @replies, related videos, maps, other tweets from the same user, photos and other relevant information related to the tweet or the tweeter. This takes Twitter one further step toward social media (as if it wasn’t already in that category). In essence, it makes Twitter more multi-dimensional. But will it continue to be the great marketing channel that it is?
