I’m not saying you should follow the trends, but there may be some trends you want to follow. There are no doubt some that you want to ignore. But when it comes to online marketing, there are a few that you can’t afford to ignore.
Social media is one trend you should pay attention to. 2010 will likely be a year that social media steps out. Small businesses who want to market themselves online will definitely want a social media presence.
Another trend you might keep an eye on, but that you probably don’t want to drop everything for, is real-time search. Twitter introduced the first real-time search engine in 2009 and Google is including real-time search results in its SERPs. So is Bing. But there is a lot of refining that needs to be done before this really benefits many of us.
