If you have a local business that has been doing business off line and you’re ready to start marketing your services online then there are several resources that you might be interested. First, don’t think you’ll meet with instant success just because you built a website. Research and universal experience shows that a poorly designed and optimized website can do more harm than good. As the old saying goes, if you’re going to do then it pays to do it right!
So what is right? Well, obviously, you should have a website if you intend to do business online. It just makes sense. And it should be designed with more than attractiveness in mind. It should be designed with search engine optimization at the forefront of interest. Beyond that, however, there are some local internet marketing resources that you should keep in mind for attracting potential customers to your website. Here are my favorite local internet marketing resources:
- Internet Yellow Pages
- Google AdWords
- Yahoo! Search Marketing
- MSN adCenter
Of course, there are many, many more. These are the just the basic resources. The first three – Internet Yellow Pages, Superpages, and Citysearch – are all local yellow page websites and directories. You can hardly do any local internet marketing without them. PRWeb is a press release distribution website that is very effective in distributing press releases worldwide – even with local geotargeting. Finally, the last three websites are pay per click advertising companies that can help you drive targeted traffic to your website with online advertising that you only pay for after you get the traffic.
My recommendation is this: Don’t do any local internet marketing online without at least four of these seven resources on your team.
